Just watched Gangs of Wasseyepur ! June 25, 2012. It is reality cinema told in folklore style. Having lived in eastern uttar pradesh for a decade now, it is very aptly delivered movie in almost all terms. As in many films some glitches (scenes that do not match the time line of the film). 1. In one scene that is set in 1970s a Jeep has a उत्तर प्रदेश - 64 नन्मबर plate fixed on it. This numbering system became effective 1989 due to passing of THE MOTOR VEHICLE ACT 1989. 2. When the people of Rambheen Singh ( the MLA) abduct a girl from Wasseyypur and Manoj Bajpeyee with his team goes to rescue her - A street pole is shown which has box attached to it on which VARANASI NAGAR NIGAM and some appeal is written. 3. The jail from where his younger son ( Faisal Khan ) is released after his term in, UTTar Pradesh has Varanasi jail written over it; and a notice on the gate that says that MOBILE, CHARGER, GUTKHA etc. are not allowed. Mobile phone is a development of around 10 years (say starting 2000) in Indian context. So how come a plot which ends in 1989 has a jail which does not allow entry of such articles. MOST IMPORTANT : All reviews (specially international) say that film is of duration 5 hours plus, but what Indian cinemas are screening is around 2 hrs 30 minutes. The film ended abruptly and had a cation "TO BE CONTINUED....." which gives the impression that the remaining part will be released soon.
